Harvard business professor Clayton Christensen shares his testimony
Clayton Christensen is a professor at Harvard Business School and he is also a member of the Mormon Church. He wrote recently an article that appears in the February 2007 issue of the Ensign: My Ways Are Not Your Ways (PDF, p. 54.).
Dr. Clayton Christensen recently posted an article on his website about why he belongs to the Mormon church. He also explains how he received a testimony of the Book of Mormon while in Oxford, England:
I had been given a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford University in England. After I had lived there for a few weeks, far away from the supportive environment in which I had been raised, it became clear that adhering to Mormonism in that environment was going to be very inconvenient… I decided, as a result, that the time had come for me to learn for certain and for myself whether Mormonism was true.
I had read the Book of Mormon before – seven times, to be exact. But in each of those instances I had read it by assignment – from my parents or a teacher – and my objective in reading it was to finish the book. This time, however, my objective was to find out if it was a true book or a fabrication. Accordingly, I reserved the time from 11:00 until midnight, every night, to read the Book of Mormon next to the fireplace in my chilly room at the Queen’s College. I began each of those sessions by kneeling in verbal prayer…
I then would sit in the chair and read a page in the Book of Mormon. I would stop at the bottom of the page and think about it. I would ask myself what the material on that page meant for the way I needed to conduct my life. I would then get on my knees and pray aloud again, asking the Lord to tell me if the book was true…
After I had done this for several weeks, one evening in October, 1975, as I sat in the chair and opened the book following my prayer, I felt a marvelous spirit come into the room and envelop my body. I had never before felt such an intense feeling of peace and love. I started to cry, and did not want to stop. I knew then, from a source of understanding more powerful than anything I had ever felt in my life, that the book I was holding in my hands was true. It was hard to see through the tears…
Le Promesse del Signore

1. Chi prega diariamente con la propria famiglia, ha la promessa del Signore che Satana non avra’ potere di desviare la sua famiglia. (D&C 10:5 ; D&C 93:49)
2. Chi paga la decima, ha la promessa che il Signore aprira’ le cataratte del cielo, e derramera’ molte benedizioni e non sara’ bruciato quando ritonera’ nuovamente, nella Sua Seconda Venuta. (Mal 3:10 ; D&C 64:23)
3. Chi fa le riunioni famigliari (Serata Famigliare) settimanalmente, ha la promessa che la sua famiglia non sara’ disfatta. (Profeta Joseph Smith)
4. Chi serve una missione a tempo pieno, ha la promessa che ricevera’ cento volte tanto e ereditera’ la Vita Eterna.(Matteo 19:29)
5. Chi studia le scritture diligentemente, ha la promessa che sapra’ le cose che deve fare, e la promessa di essere molto piu’ avantaggiato quando avra’ dubbi e indecisioni. (2 Nefi 32:3)
6. Chi per diligenza e obbedienza riceve piu’ conoscimento in questa vita, ha la promessa che gli sara’utile nella vita futura.diência adquirir mais
conhecimento nesta vida. (D&C 130:19)
7. Chi osserva la parola di saggezza, ha la promessa che ricevera’ camminando in obbedienza ai comandamenti, salute nell’ombelico e midollo nelle ossa e correrá e
nono si stanchera’. (D&C 89)
8. Chi serve il Signore con tutto il cuore, potere, mente e forza, ha la promessa che si presentara’ davanti al tribunale di Dio senza colpa. (D&C 4:2)
9. Chi legge il Libro di Mormon con la famiglia, ha la promessa che ci sara’ uno spirito di armonia nella casa. (Pres. Ezra T. Benson)
10. Chi va in Chiesa alla domenica e prende il sacramento, ha la promessa che si conservera’ pulito dai peccati del mondo. (D&C 59:9)
11. Chi va al tempio regolarmente e vive il vangelo di Gesu’ Cristo, ha la promessa che la sua famiglia sara’ protetta. (Pres. Ezra. Benson)
12. Chi presta la sua testimonianza della verita’ del Vangelo di Crsito alle altre persone, ha la promessa che gli saranno perdonati i suoi peccati.(D&C 62:3)
13. Chi aiuta l’opera missionaria e porta persone in Chiesa, ha la promessa di avere una grande allegria con queste persone nel Regno Celeste. (D&C8:15-16)
14. Chi osserva tutti i comandamenti ha la promessa che sara’ esaltato all’ultimo giorno. (D&C 5:35)
Il Signore fu bem chiaro quando disse: ” Io, il Signore, sono avincolato quando fate ciò che dico; ma quando non fate ciò che dico non avete alcuna promessa. (D&C 82:10)
